How to fix JPEG File Error: 'Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture'

Have you ever suffer with this error message when you are trying to view your pictures in Windows Photo Viewer/Gallery:

“Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged, corrupted, or is too large.”

My picture file extension was. Jpg. I found some solutions of the error. Here are all:

Solution:

1. Try to open them in another program and resave them. You can do it by changing the default program which Windows uses as default. Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Default Programs.

In Default Programs, you can set default programs accordingly to your choice. Try these steps to do this task:

a. Right click of the images, open properties, click Change.

b. In ‘Open with’ window, open Other Programs and select Windows Photo Viewer as default program or other program which you want to open with.

c. Click Ok, all your images will open in Windows default photo viewer.

2. Download and install irfanview - do you still get the same message?

If the irfanview is not open them. Then the files are corrupted.

In some cases, it also shows following error message, "Can't read file header'. This error message also a indication of corrupt file.

3. Try to move the images to another machine and try to open it again. If the images are get open, then it will sure that your machine has a problem. If the image are not get open then the images are most likely get corrupted. In this case, the image itself can't be reconstructed. You can repair damage jpg pictures by system restore. I have already described the full procedure in this post.

4. If you are still unable to resolve this error, it means your jpg file has severe corruption which only be fix by third party JPEG Recovery Software. These software fix all possible JPEG Or JPG file corruption errors & repair file in few simple steps.

Hope the solutions will help you to resolve this error message “Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged, corrupted, or is too large.”

How to Fix PowerPoint Error Message: "PowerPoint is unable to display some of the text.."

I was working on Powerpoint 2003. When I tried to open some .ppt files, it encountered the following error:

Have you ever suffered with this error If YES! then read this article to find the error solution.

After that I tried to save presentation from "save as" option with different name as given in error message. But still it showed following error message:

“PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects as slides in the file (name) because they have become corrupt. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover lost information. To ensure that the file can be opened in previous versions of PowerPoint, use the Save As command and save the file with the same name or a new name.”

Error Message Description: As the error message indicates that file has been corrupted so I tried to run the 'detect and repair' option but still No Luck!!

I had spent hundreds of hours over many years to develop this presentation and I desperately wanted to access these slides without any delay. So I posted my query on msdn forum. One forum member suggested me to remove update number KB2464588 which was a PowerPoint Security update by following method:

"Go into your Windows Control Panel> Open Add or Remove programs> Tick Show Updates

You need to scroll down till you find Security Update for Powerpoint (KB2464588) which was applied to Powerpoint overnight. After that Select Remove!!""

The step perfectly worked for me & I resolved my issue.

But there is one more condition that I have read on many forums which says these steps don't work for windows vista user. But I am not sure that this happens on windows vista users or some other ones. But it can be happen due to severely file corruption. In this case, you have one another solution which is last resort to repair corrupt PowerPoint file that is Third Party PowerPoint Recovery Software

How to convert PSD File to Jpeg File Format

PSD (Photoshop Document) is a layer-based image format which is developed by Adobe Systems Photoshop application. I have edited an image in Photoshop & have many layers, it become very large in size so it is hard to transmit online. In order to make this image transmittable then I have to change it in more portable formats like JPEG. While searching on internet & found that it is very easy process.

Here are all steps:

Solution:

Step 1
Open Adobe Photoshop

Step 2
Click on "File" in the top menu bar and after that select "Open." Browse the PSD file that you want to convert to JPEG File Format and double-click its icon to open it.

Step 3
Click "File" again and select "Save As."

Step 4
Select the location to save your file and give the file name. Select the "JPEG" option from the Format drop-down menu, and click "Save."

Step 5
Select your image quality and formatting options from the resulting JPEG Options dialog box and click "OK."

The steps will successfully save your PSD file in JPEG format at your desired location.

Issue: But these steps do not work for me. The problem is that jpeg does not look at all like the original psd. When I opened image, I found that some of the texture layers are not there and a glamour glow type effect has been added. The images are completely different from original PSD file.

Solution: I found the exact cause of the problem it that sometimes if a PSD file has more than one layer creates this issue because The JPEG format does not support multiple layers. In this case you should Save a copy of your file and then flatten it. If it gets failed then In this case, you should use Third Party PSD to Image Converter tool

The advantage of this tool is that it converts psd file in other image formats with original picture quality including all other attributes like size, color, and appearance.

1.The file is incompatible with Excel.
2. The file is corrupted

There is other possibility that the filename starts with !~ or something like this it is a temp file that got stuck and not the actual file.

Solutions:

1.Go to your desktop and click on my computer, then go to Tools, folder options,File types and check if you have xlsx extension there if not then Rename the file and change ".xlsx" to ".xls".

2. Another option is to open Excel file, go to File | Open. Select the file in the open window and choose Tools in the bottom right, then choose Open and Repair.

Another Recommended Solution: I have found in forum post that so many users have already suffered with the same error message and failed to resolve this error message. I would like to share to all those users who were unable to resolve this error message through above steps then they should try for third party Excel Repair Software. The software can repair corrupt Excel file as well as it also resolves most of the corruption errors & repair Excel file successfully.

I am sure after reading this article you are confident to resolve excel file error!!

How to fix "format error: not a PDF or corrupted"

Two days back, I have received an email with PDF file attachment. When I tried to open PDF file, it shows an error message which says:  "format error: not a PDF or corrupted"
I was surprised to see such error message and thought hope it was not a virus file as attached PDF. Immediately I have called to my friend who is expert in handling PDF file error matters. My friend suggested me it may not be virus file. It could be possible that PDF file got corrupted so he suggested me to open PDF file in foxit PDF reader which is an alternative of adobe reader then I install the foxit pdf reader, & try to open "corrupt" pdf files.

When I tried to open it in foxit reader, again it shows same error message.

There is a chance that the problem was caused by the latest update of Foxit Reader then I  uninstalled Foxit Reader and then reinstalled but the error still remain same.
As the error message indicates that the PDF file get corrupted that is why I decided to download again another copy of PDF file, but when I opened it, same problem occurred.
After doing lots of research I found that the error message can be occur due to three reasons:

1. either by the network
2. Browser Issue
3. by the corrupted file itself.

To resolve this issue, Try to download the file with a better network.

I recommend you to first clear your browser's cache and temporary internet files to make sure that they are not causing your issue. If this is not resolve the issue, please use different browser.

Corrupted PDF file could be a result that you did not complete download the whole PDF file or you have downloaded a corrupted PDF file. The best solution is to downloaded another PDF file or try repairing the installed PDF by going to start – control panel – add/ remove programs – on the PDF file right click and select change this will repair the PDF file.

In case if nothing works then you should use advance PDF Repair Software. These software repairs corrupt PDF files after all corruption errors

Hope these solution will help you to resolve this error!!!
